Homework
We believe that homework is an essential part of children’s learning, reinforcing, consolidating and enhancing class work.
Subject homework is set for Forms 1 to 6 on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. This coincides with Homework Club which is supervised by teaching staff and runs from 3.30 – 4.15pm in the library.
The homework may consist of reading, learning spellings, revising for a test, writing, research or completing an exercise. We wish to encourage independence in learning therefore teachers will provide differentiated homework to meet each child’s individual needs. Homework should take no longer than 20 minutes in Key Stage 1 and 40 minutes in Key Stage 2.
Reading is an essential tool in every child’s development. Younger children bring books home each day enabling them to practise their reading skills. Older pupils should be encouraged to read every night for pleasure. Spelling and tables practice is recommended at home as regular tests are administered.
