The Arts

For many Gregg Prep pupils, the highlights of the school year are the moments when they have the opportunity to perform and shine! Pupils are very much encouraged to take part in school assemblies and productions to build confidence and feel a sense of achievement.

From Year 3, children can elect to learn to play an instrument with specialist music teachers from Southampton Music Service and our in-school specialist piano and singing teacher, during the school day. Our school choir practices weekly and performs at school functions, including Speech Day, as well as in the community.

We host regular Teatime Concerts where children have the opportunity to perform in front of their parents. Music is at the centre of celebrations such as Christmas where a Nativity service is held at Highfield Church and is well attended by all members of our community.

Art and Design is taught throughout the school. The lessons are usually based on the theme or topic for the half-term. A variety of media is explored and art workshops are organised throughout the year.
